Hey guys, I want to talk to you today about the importance of YouTube, and the importance of video posting on YouTube. Now people think, “Well, YouTube, I need to be a vlogger. I need to be confident in front of the camera”. No, you don’t. If you’re running a business and you’re not putting video on YouTube, you are really, really missing out, okay? I’ve got some statistics here that I downloaded just this morning at 4:00 AM this morning when I started work. YouTube is the second largest search engine and the third most visited site after Google and Facebook. So just let that sink in. It’s the third most visited site after Google and Facebook and it’s the second most popular search engine. I know when I’m looking to change a battery in something or learn something, I go to YouTube immediately. First point of call, YouTube. Okay?

So, if I watch that video from someone and there’s a link there, or particularly if they speak about the link in the video saying, “Hey, hope I’ve helped you. Click the link below to our website”. Bam, that’s traffic to your website from making a simple video just like this. I’m standing in the park here at Brimbank park in Melbourne. It’s just after 6:00 AM. Now YouTube… more YouTube statistics for you. 400 hours are uploaded to YouTube every minute. Every minute 400 hours of video content is uploaded to YouTube. YouTube went down yesterday. Went down for about 20 minutes and it freaked the world out. It went down for 20 minutes and it freaked the world out. Everyone was saying, “What the hell is happening with YouTube”, because it’s the second most popular search engine for knowledge and answers that there is in the world.

It’s owned by Google. It works hand in hand with Google, okay? Humans watch over 1 billion hours of YouTube every day. One billion hours of YouTube is consumed every single day of the year around the world. You’ve got to have your content on YouTube. The beauty of having your content on YouTube, by the way, is you can embed that onto your website. So, you’ve made a video just like this. You put it on YouTube. It’s now sitting on your website as an embedded piece of code, and that is now an asset. It’s an asset for you on your website and on YouTube, which is the second biggest search engine. It’s sitting there with a link earning you hits, visits, maybe sales. It’s an asset. You do it once, it sits there, it’s never going anywhere. Unlike social media where it tends to get swamped after two days and it disappears. Putting something on YouTube, it sits there for all time. It’s always there.

The average mobile view on YouTube lasts over 40 minutes. The average view on a mobile device on YouTube is over 40 minutes, okay? With data plans getting cheaper and cheaper and people consuming more and more online content, you want to have regular content going on YouTube. Only nine, this is the final point here, which just blew me away, only 9% of businesses, lots of businesses have content on YouTube, okay? 9% of businesses… only 9% are putting content, regular content, on the second biggest search engine in the world.

I’m not even going to say anything about that. It’s just astounding. So, what I want you to do guys, is to take out your mobile phone just like this… I’m out in the park. It’s first thing in the morning, and I’ve got a microphone, so I’ve got decent audio. You don’t have to have good lighting. You can employ a videographer to have great lighting and a decent microphone, but it really… it’s not essential. Take out your phone, film yourself, deliver value, put it on YouTube and link that video onto your website. Put the video on your website, make a whole series of them. Do it every Monday, every Tuesday, every couple of days, do one. Put it out there, send it out as a mailout to your customers going, “Hey guys, here’s a bit of wisdom for you”. Put that video on your Facebook business page. Boost it. The things you can do with a snippet of video are so powerful. I encourage all businesses to start taking video on YouTube. Seriously. Thanks very much.
